Dear Sweet Grandma
Have you ever bought a perfume that you think is great in the store and then you get home and realize it smells like your grandmother: a combination of Red Door and spearmint gum? Yeah, that happens. I ventured into New Orleans for a day of shopping this past week and stopped at the Shops at Canal to run into Saks. It was for work purposes but once I got in there I realized I really needed some perfume. See, I'm kind of picky about my perfume. I love the Kate Spade perfume becuase it reminds me of the summer with the gardenia and jasmine smell. I also like the Coach perfume as a more wintery scent. I wanted to try something new, however, and was drawn to the newer Prada fragrance. It's a bit citrusy and it was something new and fresh. So I bought it. The roommates and I planned a going out night so when I got home I obviously wanted to try the new perfume. It smelled a bit familiar and as I was walking out the door, it hit me. Grandmother. I smelled like my grandmother.

Admit it...
They say the first step to recovery is admission. So...here we go. I like to shop and I like to shop a lot. Fashion fasinates me and I want it all. Here's the problem: As a lowly and struggling college student, I can't have it all. Sure, I attempted to use the majority of my student loans on clothing. Who doesn't? Is it smart? Absolutely not. The thing about student loans is you usually have them for a reason. Like to pay the rent for your fabulous condo you share with your besties. I have learned my lesson.
So I will redirect my desire to shop to just looking. It's still shopping even if you don't buy anything. But, hey, I'm taking baby steps here.
